Tim Hortons - The Diaryring
2003-07-25 :: 6:54 p.m.

Yes ladies and germs I have decided to grace the diaryland community with a ring worshipping the almightly God: Tim Hortons. This ring probably only really pertains to individuals residing in Canada (although I do know there are some Hortons' in the US), but you never know who will join.

Some Quick Timmy's Facts:

  • The first Tim Hortons store was opened in 1964 on 64 Ottawa Street North, near Dunsmure Rd., in Hamilton, Ontario.
  • Ron Joyce was the store's first successful franchisee.
  • The stores are named after the founder, Miles Gilbert "Tim" Horton who was a Canadian hockey player (he died in February 1974 in a tragic car accident).
  • A significant milestone was the opening of the 500th store opening in January 1991 in Aylmer, Quebec.
  • There are now over 2200 Tim Hortons stores across Canada and 160 in the United States.
  • Baking twice every 24 hours, the 1,500 stores go through an average of 200 pounds of dough everyday.
  • Tim Hortons sales totalled $646-million in 1996.
